  22. tell your readers that if they have

  24. single sided disks, they can

  26. carefully cut a hole on the other
  27.  
  28. side (or buy a cutting device like

  30. I did) and they can then use the other
  31.  
  32. side without worry.

  42.   If you also own DOODLE, you can now

  44. put PRINT SHOP lettering on the screen

  46. and decorate the display with DOODLE.

  48. Using a machine language monitor,

  50. follow these easy directions

  52. (assuming you wrote something with

  54. PRINT SHOP and saved it as TEXT):

  56.   Enter your monitor and:

  58. .L 'TEXT',08 (load TEXT)

  60. .T 4000 5F3F 6000 (transfer PRINT SHOP
  61.                    screen to DOODLE)

  63. .F 5C00 5FE7 01 (add color: black)

  65. .S 'DDTEXT',08,5C00,7F3F (save, the
  66.                           file adding
  67.                           DD)

  69.   Then from DOODLE, load TEXT and

  71. doodle to your hearts' content.  You

  73. can substitute any name as long as

  75. you add the DD when saving it as a

  86.   Want to pass along a warning about

  88. the new Star Micronics SG10C printer.
  89.  
  90. It is extremely limited in its
  91.  
  92. capabilities. Most of its nice
  93.  
  94. features are accessible only through
  95.  
  96. hardware switching, and cannot be
  97.  
  98. controlled via programming.  That
  99.  
  100. includes NLQ and Italics.  It has
  101.  
  102. only two pitches, 10 and 5.  I really
  103.  
  104. don't understand what Star M had in
  105.  
  106. mind when they put this one together.
  107.  
  108. It is basically a 1525 with NLQ in a
  109.  
  110. Star M. package.
  111.  
  112.   I sent mine back to the mail order
  113.  
  114. outfit.  In its place came an SG10
  115.  
  116. with a CONNECTION.  That's a
  117.  
  118. combination I can work with.
  119.  
  120.   Another little tidbit to pass along.
  121.  
  122. Several folks have mentioned a
  123.  
  124. problem with their systems locking up
  125.  
  126. with a Fast Load and a printer
  127.  
  128. interface plugged in.  As I had never
  129.  
  130. experienced the problem, I was
  131.  
  132. somewhat skeptical, until the other
  133.  
  134. day when I tried out a used Star M.
  135.  
  136. Universal Interface. I was looking
  137.  
  138. for a good deal in a second
  139.  
  140. interface.  Boy did things start
  141.  
  142. getting crazy. I couldn't get a
  143.  
  144. reliable load from disk to save my
  145.  
  146. life.  One time it would be OK, the
  147.  
  148. next time it would blow up. Bad
  149.  
  150. interface you say?  Nope.  When I
  151.  
  152. took out Fast Load everything
  153.  
  154. returned to normal, slow, but normal.
  155.  
  156. When I checked back with my friend, he
  157.  
  158. confirmed the same problem. He went
  159.  
  160. on to mention the same thing had
  161.  
  162. occured with his CARDCO +G, but not
  163.  
  164. as frequently.
  165.  
  166.   I have always used the TYMAC
  167.  
  168. Connection. When I plugged my
  169.  
  170. Connection back in with the Fast Load
  171.  
  172. installed, everything returned to
  173.  
  174. normal. I guess you get what you pay
  175.  
  176. for.
  177.  
  178.   One last tidbit.  I have been trying
  179.  
  180. out a new mail order outfit and I like
  181.  
  182. how it's gone.  They are Computer
  183.  
  184. Mail Order out of Williamsport PA.
  185.

  188. fellow will listen and he will work
  189.  
  190. with you on what you want.  The prices
  191.  
  192. are real good too.
